New Year's Special: Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 1998:
On Sale $159.99 (regular price: $239.99)

Josh Raynolds - International Wine Cellar
-- 93 Points
Light gold. Intensely aromatic nose offers a complex bouquet of smoky orchard and pit fruit aromas, along with exotic orange zest and white pepper. Deep and chewy, displaying impressively concentrated but brisk pear and bitter citrus pith flavors and an undercurrent of buttery brioche and lees. Finishes with palate-staining persistence and a subtle anise quality. As usual, a stunner.

Antonio Galloni - Wine Advocate
-- 94 Points
The 1998 Brut Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill opens with intriguing, exotic notes of smoke, cured meats and tar. This is a big, sweeping Sir Winston Churchill endowed with layers of perfumed ripe pears, quince, flowers and spices in a style that balances a generous expression of fruit with acidity and minerality. Everything is in the right place in this delicate yet deeply satisfying Champagne. This bottle was disgorged at the beginning of 2007. Winston Churchill is Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with Pinot playing the leading role. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2023.

Gary's Wine and Marketplace Annual Grand Tasting Monday October 26 at the Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ

http://www.garyswine.com/local/99070_grand_wine_tasting.html

An event you don't want to miss!

Gary's Wine & Marketplace's Grand Tasting is our biggest wine tasting event of the year and all the proceeds go to charity! This year's recipients include Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Memorial and the Interfaith Food Pantry.

This year's we're featuring over 500 wines, spirits, beer, a buffet, gourmet cheeses, and special "Spotlight Tables" in the Victorian Room!

In lieu of VIP seminars and colloquiums, this year we decided to let the wines do the talking and to let everyone in on the fun! With that in mind, the 2009 Grand Tasting will feature an entire room dedicated to wines from the finest vintages of the past decade and the critically acclaimed regions that produced them. Arrive early to experience the crème de la crème of the 21st century thus far, including:

2004 Brunello di Montalcino - Vintage Score: 97 points! A year "which produced wonderfully perfumed, majestically refined Brunellos with an excellent balance of fruit and superior tannins" - James Suckling, Wine Spectator

2005 Bordeaux - Vintage Score: 95-100 points! "One thing I am sure of after twenty-eight years of tasting Bordeaux wines every March is that 2005 cannot be compared to any previous vintage in my experience" - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

2007 Chateauneuf du Pape - Vintage Score: 98 points! Throughout the Southern Rhone 2007 is the greatest vintage I have tasted in my thirty years working in that region. - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate

GF Family of Wines - An entire table introducing our latest releases of a project of which we're quite proud: our very own Go Figure, Going Forward, and Grand Finale labels from some very prestigious partner wineries

Spottswoode - Lindy Novak of the esteemed Spottswoode winery in Napa Valley will be present to pour her highly sought-after Spottswoode and Lyndenhurst wines.

....... and lots more!

General Admission Tickets: $75.00 (Taster's Guild Members $65.00)
6:00pm - 9:30pm

Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance - first come, first served. If unable to attend yourself-send someone else! Grand Tasting tickets make wonderful gifts. Tickets are also available at each of our stores.

WA 93 and 95pt rated 2004 Brunello both under $60

2004 Collelceto Brunello di Montalcino and 2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino

When we tasted Brunellos in preparation for us to buy earlier this year, there were two that really caught out attention. We knew they would be surefire winners right from the first taste and so we stocked up on the 2004 Collelceto Brunello di Montalcino and the 2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino. We were right. These Brunellos came away with high scores from Wine Advocate. We also became the only wine retailer in the country to have the Collelceto in stock. Now, we're selling these brunellos for 39.99 and 59.99. Check out the reviews below as well as Gary tasting the Collelceto and pick up a bottle of each for yourself.

2004 Collelceto Brunello di Montalcino

Wine Advocate 93 Points

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino reveals superior clarity and delineation in its black cherries, violets, licorice, spices and new leather in a style that artfully balances a very ripe expression of fruit with firm structure. This vibrant Brunello offers terrific length and compelling inner perfume that never trails off. The tannins build on the finish, so a few additional years of bottle age seem prudent. This is a superb effort from proprietor Elia Palazzesi and may very well be his finest wine yet. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.

2004 Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino

Wine Advocate 95 points

The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino is awesome. This finessed, regal Brunello flows onto the palate with seamless layers of perfumed fruit framed by silky, finessed tannins. The wine remains extremely primary at this stage, and its full range of aromas and flavors have yet to emerge, but the sheer pedigree of this Brunello is unmistakable. The elegant, refined finish lasts an eternity, and subtle notes of menthol, spices, licorice and leather add final notes of complexity. The estate’s 2004 Brunello is a wine to buy and bury in the deepest corner of the cellar. Brunello is never inexpensive, but this is the real deal, and in relative terms, it is one of the world’s great values in fine, cellar worthy wine. Incredibly, there are 18,000+ cases of the 2004 Brunello, so it should be fairly easy to source in various markets. The Brunello is made from four vineyards ranging from 250 to 400 meters in altitude, all in Sant’Angelo in Colle. The wines from the various vineyards were aged separately in French oak casks prior to being assembled and bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034.

Wine Dinner with Cyril Chappellet at the Pluckemin Inn Thursday, June 25th at 7 P.M.

Gary's Wine & Marketplace invites you to join us at the Pluckemin Inn in Bedminster, NJ on Thursday, June 25 at 7 P.M. We have invited Cyril Chappellet of Chappellet Wines to join us for a three-course dinner paired with four of his signature wines.

The Chappellets were the first to plant vineyards exclusively on high elevation hillsides and the second winerey to be established in the Napa Valley after Prohibition.

The featured wines will be:

-Chappellet Mountain Cuvee 2006

-Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature 2006

Gary Fisch of Gary's Wine & Marketplace to be honored Sunday, June 7 as Craftsman of the Year 2009

Craftsman of the Year 2009

The Board of Trustees has selected Gary Fisch as our 2009 Craftsman of the Year. The eighth New Jersey resident to be so honored, Fisch was cited for his knowledge, dedication and promotion of wine appreciation, and for his support of community organizations.

Gary Fisch has dedicated his life to learning all there is to know about wine. After many years of extensive study at the
Sommelier Institute in New Jersey and at several Windows on the World wine courses, Gary began setting up wine seminars for restaurants and sales staff. In 1987, his love for and vast knowledge of wine lead Gary to partner with his brother Mark to open his first store. Located in Madison, this eventually became Garys Wine & Marketplace and has moved to a larger facility in town. Gary subsequently opened three additional stores in Livingston (since sold), Bernardsville and Wayne.

In addition to his entrepreneureship in promoting the trades & crafts associated with wine, cheese and fine foods, Gary has been a steadfast supporter of charitable organizations and events in the communities where he lives and works.

Please join the Trustees, Staff, members and guests of the Museum as we honor Gary Fisch on Sunday June 7 from 2 to 4 PM. Tickets are only $35 which includes the reception, a wine lecture by Gary, and fine food and wine provided by Gary's Wine & Marketplace.
