Gary Fisch of Gary's Wine & Marketplace to be honored Sunday, June 7 as Craftsman of the Year 2009

Craftsman of the Year 2009

The Board of Trustees has selected Gary Fisch as our 2009 Craftsman of the Year. The eighth New Jersey resident to be so honored, Fisch was cited for his knowledge, dedication and promotion of wine appreciation, and for his support of community organizations.

Gary Fisch has dedicated his life to learning all there is to know about wine. After many years of extensive study at the
Sommelier Institute in New Jersey and at several Windows on the World wine courses, Gary began setting up wine seminars for restaurants and sales staff. In 1987, his love for and vast knowledge of wine lead Gary to partner with his brother Mark to open his first store. Located in Madison, this eventually became Garys Wine & Marketplace and has moved to a larger facility in town. Gary subsequently opened three additional stores in Livingston (since sold), Bernardsville and Wayne.

In addition to his entrepreneureship in promoting the trades & crafts associated with wine, cheese and fine foods, Gary has been a steadfast supporter of charitable organizations and events in the communities where he lives and works.

Please join the Trustees, Staff, members and guests of the Museum as we honor Gary Fisch on Sunday June 7 from 2 to 4 PM. Tickets are only $35 which includes the reception, a wine lecture by Gary, and fine food and wine provided by Gary's Wine & Marketplace.

Saturday Ramey Wine Tasting in Wayne, 12-4 pm

Join us in our Wayne store this Saturday as we welcome George Staikos of Ramey Wine Cellars at our tasting counter.

David Ramey has been known as one of the greatest winemakers of Sonoma County for years, with Chardonnays and Cabernets that top the charts year after year.

This Saturday, we'll taste some of his current releases of Chardonnays from several appellations as well as one of his classic Cabernets from the lauded Larkmead vineyard.

Saturday Wine Tasting in Bernardsville, 12-4 pm

2008 Domaine de la Sauveuse Rose, Cotes de Provence - A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Cinsault resulting in a fresh, minerally wine with wonderful red berry fruit. A great BBQ/Summer wine!

2007 Toad Hollow Francine's Selection Unoaked Chardonnay, Mendocino County - A crisp, fruity wine with a rich and balanced finish. Grill a piece of fish and pair it with this Chard.

2007 Cricklewood Pinot Noir, Sonoma County - A beauty from the excellent '07 vintage. One of our latest favorites with red fruit, good balance, spice, and just a yummy wine. BBQ something... Salmon would be great ... and pull the cork on this Pinot.

2006 Veramonte Primus (Cab, Syrah, Merlot, Carmenere blend), Chile , - A intense wine with dark fruit, spice, earth and a long finish. A great steak and this wine is a match made in ... well, Chile!
