Microbrew Monday: Germanfest

September is coming to an end quickly, which means October and Oktoberfest are right around the corner. For Microbrew Monday this week we are celebrating early with a selection of some of our favorite German Oktoberfest beers. Stop into any one of our three locations this Monday September 26th from 5-7PM to sample these Oktoberfest brews:

  • Spaten Oktoberfest- With its amber color and roasted flavor this brew was created in 1872, making it the world's first Oktoberfest beer!
  • HofbrauMunchen Oktoberfest- This all natural beer is brewed with pure water and high quality hops, producing an amber color and slightly sweet tastes.
  • Paulaner Oktoberfest- Pouring a dark amber to orange color, this Oktoberfest smells of caramel and offers a malty sweetness.
  • Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest- Slow roasted Bavarian barley is caramelized to a rich, red amber color combined with pure spring water from the Alps and the finest hops to create hints of caramel, toffee and nuttiness in each sip.

Saturday Wine Tasting: Out with the Old and In with the New GF Releases

Join us in all three stores this Saturday, September 24th from 12-4PM, as we send the last few cases of our Going Forward releases from 2008 and 2009 off with a special end-of-vintage pricing. Not to worry, new Going Forward releases are right on their heels! And we will be introducing our highly anticipated Go Figure Lot 13 Cabernet!

Go Figure Lot 13: Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 ($19.99 sale)

Those of you who have come to know and love our Go Figure project know that we like to change things up with different winemakers and sources for each of our unique Lots. However, there's one producer we've come back to for not two or three but four of our bottlings now (04, 07, 08 and now 09) because the quality was just so good. Customers have clamored for more long after we've sold out of each vintage. Sourced from one of the best-known wineries on the Silverado Trail, Lucky Lot 13 hails from Napa's 09 vintage, which brought Bordeaux-like Cabernet laden with notes of evergreen spice, black peppercorn, and eucalyptus complimented by Merlot and a few other "spicebox" red varietals that add aromatic lift, soft mouthfeel, and sweet red fruit. We loved it so much we bought three times as much this year; but that's no guarantee it'll be available for long!

Going Forward: LAST OF VINTAGE BLOWOUT

We're down to our last few cases of 2008 Going Forward Russian River Chardonnay and 2009 Going Forward Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. before we roll out new vintages and appellations next month. Get the last few cases at a special price of $15.01/bottle while supplies last!
