SHEF Chili Cook-Off slated for April 9

8th annual SHEF Chili Cook-Off

The Somerset Hills Education Foundation (SHEF) plans to serve more than 20 versions of chili at its 8th annual SHEF Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, April 9.

The annual event has raised $80,000 to $100,000 each year to help pay for technology and programs in local schools.

This year's event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at Upton Pyne Estate in Bernardsville. The evening includes a live band, "Catz n Dawgz,'' dancing, a silent auction, beer, wine and margaritas. Due to popular demand, the mechanical bull will be back this year.

The chili will be prepared by individual cooks, as well as teams of cooks from businesses and other organizations from throughout the school district. Among those competing for the "Best Chili in Town" award are chefs from the Gladstone Tavern, Gary's Wine & Marketplace and Dental Associates of Basking Ridge.

Tickets are $95, $150 or $250 per person. For more ticket information, visit http://www.shefnj.org.

Members of Gary's Wine & Marketplace staff will be present participating in the event and also offering pairing suggestions for these scrumptious dishes.
