Come taste your way around the world with these exciting Gary's picks at our tasting counters this Saturday, March 21 from 12-4 pm.
Wayne and Madison:
NewHarbor Sauvignon Blanc 2007 (New Zealand): With an enticing bouquet of grapefruit, passion fruit, and guava, its crisp and aromatic finish exhibits all the classic hallmarks of New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Salena Estates Chardonnay 2007 (Australia): Fresh and lively, this Aussie Chardonnay is brimming with citrus and melon aromas with just a touch of oak on the creamy finish.
Hartford Court Pinot Noir 2006 (California): Complex aromas of juicy red berries, violets and cedar are followed by flavors of perfectly ripe, black cherries, with allspice and coffee notes culminating in a long, multi-faceted finish. A true Sonoma Coast California Pinot Noir.
Chave Mon Coeur Cotes du Rhone 2006 (France): Wine Spectator 91 pts! Alluring, with dark cocoa, game, braised fig, and roasted plum notes laced with hints of iron, and garrigue. The nice solid, muscular finish lets a loamy edge echo on.
Attilio Ghisolfi Barolo 2004 (Italy): The Wall Street Journal called it the best Barolo under $50 bucks, and said "This wine is easy to drink despite its size. Quite a wine..." Wine Spectator: Shows dried mushroom, plum and cigar box aromas, turning to black fruit. Full bodied, with chewy tannins, and a long finish.
Bernardsville:
Palo Alto Reserve, Sauvignon Blanc 2008 (Chile): A wonderful example of Chilean SB with good acidity and minerality underpining ripe grapfruit and gooseberry.
St Clement Vineyards, Chardonnay Napa Valley 2007 (California): Excellent creamyness with a touch of oak and ripe fruit.
Tatu, Garnacha 2008 (Spain): Ripe grenache with bright red fruit, good balance. A real crowd pleaser and excellent with food or as a before meal glass of something.
Tua Rita Perlato del Bosco Rosso Toscana 2005 (Italy): A ripe nose of currents, earth, ripe fruit, fine tannins and excellent balance. An excellent and resonably priced intro to one of the finest producers in Tuscany.
